English and EALD

Middle School

At Murray Bridge High School students will study either English or English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD). Content for these subjects will be guided by the Australian Curriculum which is divided into the strands of Language, Literature and Literacy. Students will experience a wide range of genres, both analysing published texts, and constructing original texts. A greater emphasis will be given to the explicit teaching of grammar and the use of specific writing techniques so that students understand the effects of writers' choices on a specific audience.
