Meet our newly elected Prefects for 2024 - Georgia, Holly, Andriana and Chaz.
They are a voice for all students at MBHS and will have the opportunity to work together with staff and students to help make positive decisions for our school

School prefects Holly, Adrianna, Chaz and Georgia present kitchen equipment to Skye from AC Care, to be used in the soon to be opened ‘Studio Purpose’ youth accommodation on Jarvis Street. This collaboration between Habitat for Humanity, SA Housing Authority, Believing Housing, RCMB, Headspace and affiliated organisations will provide much needed homes for vulnerable young people in our community. We are proud to be able to contribute to supporting our young people to thrive.

7KU have been learning about Emotional Intelligence (EQ) - specifically, how emotions connect to our behaviours. Together we created an Emotions Alphabet to help us identify our emotions more accurately and to show that there are many emotions that people experience every day.

The Year 9 @Work Class is back for 2024, starting off at their volunteering program at the Murray Bridge RSL on a warm Tuesday afternoon. After a quick conversation with RSL members, Merv and Fred about what needed to be done, the group quickly got to work.
In small teams, they took on numerous tasks to support the retired servicemen which involved moving and spreading mulch, reconfiguring and laying pavers, pulling weeds and preparation of a new path entering the car park. The students enjoyed their first volunteering experience and showed their initiative and determination to complete their jobs, while supporting their local RSL.
The students will be heading out to Jervois and Mypolonga Sporting Clubs later in the term to undertake gardening, cleaning and maintenance to ensure the clubrooms and facilities are all ready for the winter sports season to begin.

Our Year 9 Visual Art and Design classes of 2024 have been learning about the Year of the Dragon as part of their studies on the Chinese New Year. In this project, students created their own dragon. They also explored some interesting facts related to this festival. For instance, the first day of Chinese New Year falls on the new moon that appears between the 21st of January and the 20th of February. This year, it occurred on the 10th of February, 2024. This tradition is observed by Chinese people and other Chinese-speaking communities. It is also related to the Lantern Festival and similar celebrations in other Asian cultures. The significance of this festival is to commemorate the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. 

They worked incredibly hard and we think they all look amazing!

The Year 11 Child Studies class have been investigating healthy options for a child’s lunch box. They considered allergies, sensory conditions, healthy eating guidelines and making a lunch box visually appealing. They then created their own healthy lunch boxes!

The first few weeks have been an exciting start for the Aboriginal Education students- Week 2 we had an Ab Ed Familly BBQ night- where families had the opportunity to meet the team and supporting staff members/leaders of MBHS. The evening was a great success with many students and families attending, enjoying complementary BBQ and drinks while having a good yarn. We aim to have this once a term to keep connected to families and the community.

We also had the first Ab Ed Assembly for 2024 in Week 3, where all Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students of MBHS met with the Ab Ed team to celebrate success and educate students on the different support networks our school has to offer. It is with this we also had the pleasure to announce winners of our newly established "MBHS Deadly Achievement Award" for a male and female student recipient, who have demonstrated dedication in our school values of excellence, respect and working together. Our latest winners for MBHS Deadly Achievement Awards were Aden and Lashyia We aim to have an Aboriginal student success assembly each term.

There are 2 options available to eligible families:
•    wireless internet access from the Department for Education through the student home internet program
•    NBN broadband internet access until December 2025 from the Australian Government through the School Student Broadband Initiative.
You might be eligible if you:
•    have a school aged child
•    don’t have reliable home internet access or have no active NBN broadband connection.
